Their competitive bid process takes place for the purchase of all materials, equipment, facilities and services to support their Chevy Chase headquarters and 10 regional offices. Forecasts include building improvements and expansions due to their employee growth which currently numbers 35,000. Purchasing is centralized through the GEICO office located at 2800 Tower Oaks Boulevard, Rockville. The purchasing department consists of 4 buyers and an administrative assistant. Sales call appointments can be made Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. In addition, vendors can present their products and services for consideration from 10:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays. While there is no formal diversity program at GEICO, they seek the best service/goods at the best price from all vendors. Vendor requirements for new suppliers include: company profile, equipment list (if applicable), and description/samples of products or services being offered with references upon request. In some instances, other departments like HR determine needs for certain procurement such as and Staffing, but all contracts are processed through centralized purchasing.
