Recap: GSA Construction and Building Services Procurement Forum

The Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce (MCCC) in partnership with the Montgomery County Department of Economic Development (DED), the U.S. General Services Administration and event supporter Silver Spring Chamber of Commerce, hosted the GSA Construction and Building Services Procurement Forum on Tuesday, October 7th at the Silver Spring Civic Building.

Two-hundred businesses received access to experts in key areas through panel presentations and breakout sessions.

Steve Silverman, Director, Montgomery County Department of Economic Development, special guest Montgomery County Executive Isiah Leggett, Gigi Godwin, President and CEO, Montogmery County Chamber of Commerce, and Jane Redicker, President, Greater Silver Spring Chamber of Commerce provided welcome remarks.

Michael Gelber, Deputy Commissioner, Public Building Service, GSA provided a keynote presentation, giving overview of GSA Purchases for Construction and Building Services.

Joel Zingeser, Grunley Construction, and Chair of the Washington Building Congress, moderated a panel discussion featuring a discussion of procurement opportunities with GSA’s Public Building Services, National Capital Region.

Panelists included:

  • Jennifer Smith, Director, Office of Acquisitions, PBS, NCR
  • Shapour Ebadi, Director, Office of Design & Construction, PBS, NCR
  • Bart Bush, Assistant Commissioner of Client Solutions, PBS

Four breakout sessions discussed opportunities and best practices from the perspective of the Procurement Officer, Prime, and Sub-contractors. Breakout session topics included the following:

  • Construction services
  • Building operations and maintenance
  • Workplace and office supplies
  • IT and communications services
