700+ business leaders and government agencies connected for a great day of commerce at the MCCC GovConNet 2010 Congressional Procurement Conference and Expo on May 5 at The Universities at Shady Grove.

MCCC President and CEO Gigi Godwin opened the day which included welcoming remarks  by U.S. Congressman Christopher Van Hollen, who serves as Honorary Chair of the event; Mauricio Vera, Director, OSDBU; Sterling Crockett, MCCC Chair-Elect; David Dise, Director, Montgomery County Department of General Services; Steve Silverman, Director, Montgomery County Department of Economic Development and; Dr. Stewart Edelstein, Associate Vice-Chancellor for Academic Affairs (USM), Executive Director (USG).

The eighth annual event gave businesses the opportunity to meet directly with key purchasing officials from 14 federal agencies, representatives of local and state government, prime contractors and professional service providers during 35 workshops from 9:00 AM – 12:30 PM. The Expo kicked-off at 12:30 with 83 exhibitors who networked with participants to gain a competitive edge in a quest to win contracts.
