About

The Montgomery County Chamber Community Foundation (MCCCF), in conjunction with the Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce (MCCC) and the MCCC GovConNet program, launched the Veteran Institute for Procurement (VIP), an educational training program for veteran business owners, principals and C-level executives in September 2009. The VIP is a 6-session comprehensive certification program instructed by professional service experts and designed for veteran businesses to increase their ability to win government contracts by establishing best business practices. Eighty-five veteran-owned businesses have graduated from the program to-date.

The VIP classes are offered twice a month to one executive from each of the enrolled veteran-owned businesses. Class size is limited to 35-40 individuals. Funded entirely by Montgomery County Chamber Community Foundation and VIP sponsors, the program is at no cost to participants. VIP enrollment is not limited to Montgomery County businesses.

Currently, the VIP curriculum is not applicable to businesses in the construction industry.  If you would like to be added to the waiting list for a future VIP session for Federal government contractors in the construction industry, please contact Barbara Ashe at (301) 738-0015 x215 or bashe@mcccmd.com

Testimonials

"It is an honor to be associated with the Veteran Institute for Procurement. I am grateful to the Montgomery County Chamber Foundation for supporting the launch of VIP in Frederick. VIP will provide timely and effective opportunities for veteran entrepreneurs to gain the access and tools to successfully compete for federal government contracts. Veterans have historically demonstrated their success in business in both the domestic and global marketplace…VIP’s effort to provide the training and a network for our veteran-owned businesses has my unconditional support. It’s a win-win for our country and taxpayers when the federal government buys the innovative programs and services developed by local small business entrepreneurs."
- Representative Roscoe Bartlett, 6th District of Maryland

"We always say on the battlefield, leave no soldier behind.  We want to make sure when our soldiers come back and they're veterans that we don't leave them behind back here.  One of the most important things we can do is help them find opportunities in the business community."
- and -
"As never before, the Federal Government has committed to contracting with Veteran-owned businesses. It is timely that the Chamber’s Foundation established VIP to train and qualify Veteran-owned businesses to compete for these procurement opportunities."
- Congressman Chris Van Hollen, 8th District of Maryland

"Wow!! What a rush!  The VIP was excellent! I enjoyed each session, because they were extremely informative. As a new VOSB, you have provided a path through the very challenging maze of federal procurement. After each session, I had a clear understanding of the necessary activities that I needed to undertake in order to advance to the next level in the overwhelming process of federal procurement."
- and -
"During [my] presentation [at FDA] I mentioned that I was a graduate of the MCCCF’s VIP program.  Her eyes lit up with excitement as she stated 'WOW!  The VIP is big!!'"
- Constance L. Baptist, CISM, CEO, The AshField Group LLC
